His work focuses on how modern societies integrate normative orders through institutions, the role of collective identities under conditions of modernity, and the tension between freedom and political correctness in liberal democracies.
Across monographs, edited volumes and articles, Tietz has interrogated thinkers such as Hegel, Nietzsche, Marx, Gadamer and Carl Schmitt. Recurring themes include the boundaries of political community, the rational integration of plural identities, and the philosophical critique of prevailing moral and legal structures.
