Uchenna Okeja is a Research Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at Rhodes University, South Africa. He has been awarded the prestigious Iso Lomso Fellowship by the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) twice, for the second semesters of 2017 and 2019. His research critically examines African political philosophy with a focus on developing viable frameworks for contemporary governance.
Okeja's research explores African political thought, global justice, decolonization, moral philosophy, and postsecularism. His work centers on reimagining political values in African contexts, addressing themes like the public sphere, consensus-building, racial dynamics, and ethical norms. A key project investigates the public sphere in African political thought to develop alternative political ideas for the continent.
Publications from 2017-2019 reveal a consistent focus on justice, ethics, and African philosophy. His works analyze deliberation, war ethics, migration, education decolonization, and postsecular religious dynamics, employing comparative and normative approaches to address global and African-specific challenges.
