Dr. Tzilla Eshel serves as a lecturer at the Zinman Institute of Archaeology, University of Haifa, where she completed both her M.A. (summa cum laude) and Ph.D. degrees.
Her research specializes in Bronze and Iron Age archaeology with a focus on silver provenance and ancient economic systems. She employs chemical fingerprinting of silver artifacts to trace trade networks referenced in biblical texts, particularly Solomon's silver expeditions to Tarshish and Abraham's purchase of the Cave of Machpelah. Her interdisciplinary methodology bridges archaeological science, material culture analysis, and biblical exegesis to reconstruct pre-coinage monetary practices in the ancient Near East.
Dr. Eshel actively contributes to contemporary biblical scholarship through publications on TheTorah.com (Project TABS), demonstrating her commitment to integrating scientific evidence with textual analysis in understanding ancient Levantine societies.
