Tyson Hausdoerffer is a Professor at Western Colorado University, serving as the Director of the Graduate Program in Creative Writing and faculty in the Poetry Concentration. He is affiliated with the School of Graduate Studies and the Communication Arts, Language & Literature Department.

His scholarly and creative work focuses on translating ancient Greek texts, particularly Homeric epics, into contemporary poetic forms. Over 12 years, he completed a translation of Homer’s Iliad and is now working on the Odyssey, aiming to bridge ancient worldviews with modern human experience through poetic translation. He values the Gunnison Valley’s isolation for its primordial connection to creative work.
