معرفی
Dr. Tyler S Nelson is a Researcher in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Florida. He holds a PhD in Neurobiology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (2022) and dual undergraduate degrees in Biology and German from Wofford College (2016). His research focuses on peripheral and central mechanisms of neuropathic and neuromuscular pain, using molecular, genetic, and electrophysiological approaches. Current projects include investigating the role of the parabrachial nucleus in chronic pain mechanisms and exploring pain pathways in periodic paralyses.
Dr. Nelson has secured grants as Principal Investigator from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and the American Neuromuscular Foundation. He has received the Mitchell Max Award for Research Excellence (2023). His work has been published in high-impact journals such as Neuropsychopharmacology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Pain.
His research integrates insights from neurobiology and pharmacology to identify novel therapeutic targets for chronic pain conditions. Key areas include neuropeptide Y signaling, calcium channel modulation, and neuronal circuitry in pain pathways. Ongoing studies aim to dissect brainstem circuits (e.g., parabrachial nucleus) involved in pain prioritization and nociplasticity.
