Tyler Markkanen is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Springfield College, affiliated with the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science within the School of Arts and Sciences. He joined Springfield College in 2014 and previously held roles as a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (2009–2011) and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Manhattan College (2011–2014).

His research focuses on mathematical logic, with expertise in computability theory and computable model theory. He teaches courses such as Precalculus, Calculus, Geometry, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, and Mathematics Seminar. He holds a teaching certification for Mathematics (Grades 7–12) in Connecticut and is a member of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and UConn Logic Group.
Outside academia, Markkanen enjoys singing, performing magic tricks, and playing games.
