Tyler Denmead is an Associate Professor in Education at the University of Cambridge and Fellow/Dean at Queens' College. His scholarship examines how education maintains and contests race and racism through arts and humanities education. Awarded 'best doctoral supervisor' in the UK (2023) and Cambridge's 'best lecturer' (2019), he directs the Joan Whitehead Subject Fund.
Denmead's research develops critical frameworks for understanding racial dynamics in educational settings. His book The Creative Underclass analyzes youth creativity in gentrifying urban contexts. Current projects include global critical race theory development and studies of racialized emotions in arts pedagogy.
He supervises doctoral candidates researching decolonial approaches across international contexts including Palestine, India, China, and Britain. His teaching emphasizes collaborative learning communities challenging social inequities.
