Tuulia Law is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Science at York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, specializing in Criminology. She holds a PhD in Criminology from the University of Ottawa, an MA in Women's Studies from the same institution, and a BFA from Concordia University. Her research centers on intersectional gendered violence, sexual assault on campus, sex work, and criminalized masculinities, with particular emphasis on labor relations in the sex industry and gendered performance.
Law's research explores the management dynamics within the sex industry, including strip clubs and third-party roles, with recent work examining how gender norms interact with legal frameworks. Her investigations into workplace violence, consent ambiguities, and social stigma contribute to broader sociological and criminological discourse. She is currently on sabbatical until June 2025.
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on gendered labor, institutional power structures, and social justice. Research spans sex industry management, violence frameworks, and queer community dynamics. Articles frequently employ intersectional analysis to examine how gender, class, and race operate within criminalized spaces.
