Tuula Nygård is a Research Fellow at the University of Oulu's Faculty of Humanities, Department of History, Culture and Communication Studies. She holds a PhD and currently leads the AIM project funded by the Kone Foundation, investigating AI's impact on young people's information practices. Her doctoral research, supported by the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, focused on multiliteracy in health education. Her work bridges educational sciences, information studies, and health communication, emphasizing critical thinking, digital literacy, and educational equality.
Research interests include multiliteracy, AI ethics, health information practices, teacher identity, and participatory research methods. She collaborates with research groups like Health Information Mastering (HIM-Oulu&Åbo) and INSPIRES. Publications span journals such as Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology and Health Education, addressing topics like cognitive authority, youth digital practices, and teacher-student dynamics.
