Tue Bjerg Bennike is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University's Department of Health Science and Technology, affiliated with The Faculty of Medicine. He holds an adjunct position as Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark. His research focuses on the development of the innate immune system in early life, leveraging OMICS technologies and bioinformatics to understand autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Bennike also serves as a PhD co-supervisor and committee chair, contributing to academic governance roles such as Semester Coordinator for the Medicine/MedIS BA program.
Education: Dr. Med. in Proteomics (Characterization of the Innate Immune System), PhD in Inflammatory Diseases, MSc in Nanotechnology. Postdoctoral training includes Harvard University and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Research interests span proteomics, systems biology, and bioinformatics applications in immunology. Notable projects include EPIC-HIPC (neonatal vaccine biomarkers) and BreathOMICS (respiratory proteomics). Bennike has secured funding from Lundbeck Foundation, Carlsbergfondet, and others. He actively engages in teaching at all academic levels, emphasizing problem-based learning (PBL) and case facilitation. His awards include Teacher of the Year accolades and the Svend Andersen Foundation’s Research Talent Award.
