Trung Huynh is an Adjunct Professor in the Comparative Cultural Studies department at the University of Houston, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. He teaches courses such as Introduction to Buddhism and Buddhist Meditation.
- Ph.D. and M.A. in Religious Studies (Buddhist Studies) from the University of the West.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
His research focuses on Buddhist Studies, including Mahayana, Early Buddhism, Zen practices, and Buddhist approaches to mindfulness and social issues. He advocates for integrating Buddhism into public education and explores its historical development in Asia.
Huynh has presented papers at conferences like the American Academy of Religion and the Association of Third World Studies, addressing topics such as Buddhist pedagogy, ecological challenges, and self-immolation. He co-chairs the Buddhist Pedagogy Seminar at the American Academy of Religion (2019–2024).
