Karin Meyers is a Senior Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at American University's College of Arts & Sciences. Her research examines Buddhist and Asian philosophical traditions, with emphases on intention, free will, contemplative practices, comparative methodology, and the ecological crisis.
She co-directs NEH Summer Institutes, including an upcoming 2025 program on Buddhist perspectives in climate change, and is editing two books on Buddhism and Sanskrit pedagogy.
Meyers integrates her academic work with qi gong instruction and meditation practice across Theravāda, Tibetan, and Zen traditions.
