Troy D. Harden is a Professor of Practice at Texas A&M University, where he serves as Director of the Race and Ethnic Studies Institute (RESI). He holds a PhD from DePaul University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Loyola University Chicago. His research focuses on racial equity, community violence, and social trauma interventions, particularly in urban settings. He has led initiatives such as Northeastern Illinois University’s Master of Social Work Program and contributed to projects like the Department of Justice’s Community-based Crime Reduction Grant in Englewood. Harden’s work emphasizes community partnerships, including collaborations with the Chicago Torture Justice Center and Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Public Safety Research Advisory Committee. He received an outstanding educator award in 2017 and has advised numerous community and institutional programs addressing race, gender, and poverty. His research bridges academia and practice, advocating for justice-centered solutions to systemic inequalities.
