Trond Flægstad

Trond Flægstad is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Department of Clinical Medicine, UiT The Arctic University of Norway. He is affiliated with the Research Group for Child and Adolescent Health and contributes to projects such as microTromsø and the Norwegian Childhood Cancer Biobank.

Research Interests include pediatric oncology (neuroblastoma, leukemia) and infectious diseases in children, specifically Staphylococcus and Meningococcus infections. His work spans molecular profiling of leukemias, HIV-associated chronic lung disease, and public health studies on pediatric obesity and iron deficiency.

Publications focus on DNA methylation subgroups, microbial diversity in HIV patients, and biomarker discovery for neuroblastoma. Recent studies (2023–2025) emphasize precision oncology, antibiotic impacts on microbiomes, and seasonal trends in pediatric leukemia.
