Trond Amundsen is a Professor in the Department of Biology at NTNU, affiliated with the Faculty of Natural Sciences. He specializes in animal behavior, focusing on sexual selection, parental care, and life history evolution. His research explores how climate variability affects reproductive dynamics, particularly in marine organisms like goby fish. He leads the DYNAMAR project studying sexual selection in a changing ocean and contributed to the edited book *Animal Signals*.
Amundsen has held positions at NTNU since 1991, with prior education from the University of Oslo and Telemark College. He has supervised numerous students and mentored researchers in behavioral ecology. Awards include the 2019 NTNU Public Dissemination of Science Award and a 2022 pedagogy award for curriculum development in ecology.
His work spans coral reef fish coloration, climate change impacts, and conservation biology. He actively engages the public through media, including articles in *New York Times* and *National Geographic*, and contributes to radio/TV science discussions.
