Troels Fage Hedegaard is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University's Department of Politics and Society, within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He is affiliated with the CCWS - Centre for Comparative Welfare Studies, Green Societies, and MIX - Center for Displacement, Migration and Integration. His research focuses on social policy, welfare state dynamics, climate change policies, immigration, and public opinion formation. Hedegaard has led and participated in multiple projects including the 'Green Societies' seed project and the 'FLOW' initiative examining migrant impacts on welfare states.
His work explores topics such as degrowth policies, immigrant assimilation, carbon tax acceptability, and migrant welfare state attitudes through surveys and comparative analyses. Notable contributions include studies on Danish public opinion toward nuclear energy and climate migrants, as well as experimental research on migrant selection criteria. Hedegaard has authored over 40 publications and contributed to datasets like the MIFARE Study.
He has presented at conferences such as ESPAnet and engaged in media outreach discussing climate policy and migration-related topics. His research often bridges micro-level individual attitudes with macro-level policy feedback mechanisms, particularly within Nordic welfare state contexts.
