His research interests focus on the intersection of Roman law, violence studies, and imperial ideology. Current book projects analyze mass violence in the Roman world and foundational aspects of Roman jurisprudence.
Recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on ancient violence, with methodological innovations in comparative genocide studies and reexaminations of Roman military conduct. Thematically, articles explore how imperial power structures normalized systemic violence while developing complex legitimizing narratives.
