Kevin Feeney is an Assistant Professor of Roman History at the University of Connecticut, based in the Department of History within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the political and social history of the Late Roman Empire (250–600 CE), with a particular emphasis on imperial accession, social movements, and premodern state repression. He holds a Ph.D. in Ancient History from Yale University (2020), preceded by an MSt in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies (Trinity College, Oxford, 2014) and a BA in History and Politics (Trinity College, Oxford, 2013).

Feeney’s research bridges classical and modern political frameworks, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches with the social sciences. His current book project examines Roman imperial accession, while his published work includes analyses of imperial rhetoric, court construction, and political transitions. He has taught at Fairfield University and New York University before joining UConn.
His scholarly contributions have been recognized with awards such as the John Addison Porter Dissertation Prize and the Hans Gatzke Dissertation Prize from Yale University. Feeney’s teaching spans Roman history from the Republic to Byzantium, and he emphasizes comparative methodologies in understanding historical political systems.
