Tristan Shelley

Dr Tristan Shelley is a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Southern Queensland, affiliated with the Centre for Future Materials (Operations and Research) and the Institute for Advanced Engineering and Space Sciences. He holds a BEng and PhD from Queensland. His expertise focuses on advanced composites manufacturing, sustainable industry design, and aerospace structural technologies. As Interim CTO of the $50M iLAuNCH Hub, he leads initiatives to accelerate space sector manufacturing and supply chain development. Shelley has secured ~$65M in grants/contracts, including $58M in the last 18 months.

Research collaborations include Boeing, Airbus, Hypersonix Launch Systems, and international institutions like the AMRC (UK), Fraunhofer IGCV (Germany), and TPRC (Netherlands). His work spans numerical modeling, composite manufacturing techniques, and 'waste' material innovation through the NO WASTE Pilot Precinct and SIMPLE Hub. Technical specialties include aerospace bonding/joining, structural optimization, and problem-solving for global industry partners.
