Shahbaz Mushtaq

Professor Shahbaz Mushtaq is a Professor and Director at the Centre for Applied Climate Sciences (CACS), University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), since January 2019. With 28 years of international experience, he has held senior roles at institutions like the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), CSIRO, and Charles Sturt University (CSU). His research focuses on climate risk management, water resource economics, and agricultural policy, supported by over 150 publications.

• MSc(Hons), Northwest Frontier Province Agricultural University
• PhD in Natural Resource Economics, University of the Philippines/IRRI

Research Interests: Climate adaptation strategies, hydro-economic modeling, and financial mechanisms for climate resilience. His work integrates mathematical and statistical tools to address agricultural and water resource challenges across Asia-Pacific regions.

Awards: Recipient of high-profile recognitions including the Eureka Prize (2007) and CSIRO Chairman's Award (2007), underscoring his contributions to environmental and climate science.
