Tristan Salles is an Associate Professor in the School of Geosciences at the University of Sydney, serving as 3rd Year Coordinator, Equity Officer, and IT Representative. His research focuses on Earth surface processes, coastal dynamics, and sedimentary systems, with particular emphasis on climate change impacts and numerical modeling. He holds a PhD in Marine Geoscience (2006) and previously worked at CSIRO. His work spans interdisciplinary projects combining geology, climatology, and computational methods.
Research interests include landscape evolution, coral reef dynamics, and source-to-sink sediment systems. Notable projects address sea-level changes, reef resilience, and the interplay of tectonics, climate, and surface processes. Collaborations with global institutions like the Australian Resources Research Centre (CSIRO) and ANZIC underscore his applied research focus.
Publications highlight contributions to reef modeling, sediment transport, and paleogeographic reconstruction. Media engagement includes coverage of sand dynamics, seabed response to climate scenarios, and biodiversity studies. His Earth Code Lab develops innovative computational tools for geoscientific analysis.
