Tristan J. Ashcroft is a Visiting Assistant Professor teaching geology and earth sciences in the Department of Environmental Studies at Ursinus College. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nevada, MS from University of Albany, and BA from Juniata College. During summers, he conducts geological fieldwork west of the Rocky Mountains.
Dr. Ashcroft's research focuses on structural geology and tectonics, with particular emphasis on late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic deformation in eastern Nevada. His investigations examine magmatic-tectonic relationships in collisional systems and deformation patterns in sedimentary basins.
His publications analyze tectonic processes in Nevada's Adobe Range and magmatic systems in convergent margins. Teaching responsibilities include Geology: The Earth Around Us, Fueling Society, and Environmental Applications of GIS.
