Tripthi Pillai serves as Professor of English and Associate Dean of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University. She holds affiliate appointments in Women and Gender Studies, Film and Production Studies, and Asian Studies programs.
Her scholarly expertise spans Shakespeare and early modern drama, cinema studies, and critical theory. Pillai explores intersections of gender, postcolonial theory, and adaptation through frameworks like Jugaad (resourceful innovation) and masala aesthetics. Her research frequently examines cross-cultural dialogues between Western literary traditions and South Asian cultural forms.
Recent publications demonstrate her interdisciplinary approach, blending Renaissance drama with contemporary pandemic narratives and Indian cinema.
