Tricia Vause is a Professor in the Department of Child and Youth Studies at Brock University. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst-Doctoral. Her research focuses on behavioral interventions for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), particularly addressing co-occurring obsessive-compulsive behaviors and anxiety. Dr. Vause has conducted extensive clinical and research work across Canada and the US, including a notable Randomized Controlled Trial funded by the Ontario Mental Health Foundation and the Ministry for Long-Term Care.
Her research interests include Functional Behavior-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (FB-CBT), behavioral assessment methodologies, and the Assessment of Basic Learning Abilities (ABLA) Test. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and co-developed therapeutic resources such as the I Believe in Me Not OCB! Workbook. Dr. Vause has presented at over 60 conferences, including Applied Behavior Analysis International and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
Her current work extends FB-CBT to preschool-aged children with ASD. She emphasizes evidence-based practice, advocating for accessible interventions and ethical treatment approaches. Dr. Vause collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to bridge research and clinical practice, particularly in school and residential settings.
