Trevor Sutton serves as a Senior Research Associate and Director of the Program on Trade and the Clean Energy Transition at the Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP), Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). His expertise lies at the intersection of trade, climate, and industrial policy, where he leads research initiatives to inform global energy policy.

Sutton's research interests encompass trade policy, climate policy, energy policy, industrial policy, and the clean energy transition. His recent publications (2024-2025) analyze emerging trade-climate issues, including the International Maritime Organization's net-zero framework, US-EU trade dynamics regarding CBAM, and the role of trade in COP negotiations. Sutton also explores bilateral green trade opportunities, such as between the US and India.
