Dr. Trevor Hart is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and Director of the HIV Prevention Lab. He leads TMU's HOPE Centre for Gender and Sexual Minority People, the first Canadian center addressing health disparities among LGBTQ+ communities through research and practice. His work focuses on HIV/AIDS prevention, sexual health interventions, and community-based studies involving gay, bisexual, and other sexual minority men (GBM).
Education: PhD in Clinical Psychology from Temple University (2007), post-doctoral fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine and CDC's HIV/AIDS Prevention Division. Previously taught at York University before joining Toronto Metropolitan University.
Key Research: Leading a CIHR-funded Sexual Confidence trial evaluating HIV prevention strategies targeting social anxiety and substance use. Principal Investigator for the Engage cohort study tracking HIV/STI prevalence among 2,100 GBM across Canada. Recent studies explore biomedical treatments for STIs and their behavioral impacts.
