Tracey Parkin is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Professions at the University of Plymouth, part of the Faculty of Health. She specializes in dietetic education, clinical skill assessment, and patient-centered care. Her work includes pioneering the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for dietetic students and leading the MSc in Advanced Professional Practice in Dietetics. She focuses on communication skills, behavior change, and empathy in healthcare, particularly in diabetes, weight management, and self-care.
Her research explores Functional Imagery Training (FIT) as a motivational intervention for weight loss, demonstrated to be more effective than traditional methods. She collaborates with psychologists to integrate health psychology principles into clinical practice. Tracey supervises postgraduate research and delivers supervisory skills training for educators in the southwest region.
