Tracey-Anne Cooper is an Associate Professor in the History Department at St. John's University, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She specializes in Anglo-Saxon History, Manuscript Studies, and Medieval Culture. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. (2005) and M.A. (2001) in History from Boston College, and a B.A. (First Class Honours) in Medieval and Renaissance Studies from Lancaster University (UK), where she spent a year at Wellesley College.
Her research focuses on Anglo-Saxon England, particularly manuscript studies and the intersection of liturgy, monastic rules, and pastoral care. Her groundbreaking work on London, BL Cotton Tiberius A.iii introduced a holistic methodology for analyzing compilation manuscripts, revealing connections between texts and the role of archbishops. She has presented at major conferences such as the International Medieval Conference (Leeds) and the Haskins Society Conference, and published in journals like Anglo-Norman Studies and Notes and Queries.
Cooper teaches courses on medieval Europe, including the core course Emergence of Global Society. She is revising her dissertation for publication and actively contributes to medieval studies through scholarly articles and conference presentations.
