Toyin Clottey is a Professor of Global Supply Chain Management at the Mike Ilitch School of Business, Wayne State University, where he teaches graduate courses in global operations, supply chain analytics, and manufacturing systems. His research focuses on sustainable operations, supply forecasting, and information sharing in complex assembly environments, particularly in automotive and high-tech industries.
His research interests include:
- Synchronizing component supply in automotive assembly under disruptions such as chip shortages
- Effects of imprecise information sharing on fixed-bin selective assembly systems
- Survey research methods applied to supply chain decision-making
His work has been published in leading journals such as Production and Operations Management, IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, and the Journal of Business Logistics. He is an active member of the Decision Sciences Institute, INFORMS, and the Production and Operations Management Society.
Toyin Clottey earned his academic degrees from prestigious institutions:
- Ph.D. in Operations Management, The Ohio State University (2010), with a minor in Logistics
- M.S. in Statistics, The Ohio State University (2006)
- B.A. in Computer Science and Statistics, University of Ghana, Legon (2001)
Before entering academia, he gained industry experience at Maersk Logistics in Ghana, providing him with practical insights into global logistics and supply chain operations. He currently teaches courses including GSC7090 (Global Operations and Supply Chain Management), GSC7300 (Manufacturing and Supply Chain Analytics), and DSB6200 (Manufacturing & Supply Chain Analytics) at the graduate level.
