John Taylor is a tenured Associate Professor of Global Supply Chain Management at the Mike Ilitch School of Business, Wayne State University, where he chairs the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management. He also serves as Editor of the Journal of Transportation Management and has played a pivotal role in developing academic programs in supply chain management at both Wayne State and Grand Valley State Universities.

- Specializes in automotive supply chain management, transportation policy, and international logistics
His research investigates cross-border trade dynamics (particularly U.S.-Canada-Mexico), economic regulation of transportation industries, intermodal infrastructure, and supply chain performance optimization. He has contributed to journals like the Transportation Journal, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, and the International Journal of Logistics Management.
Taylor has advised governments and corporations as a policy consultant, working with organizations such as the U.S. Department of Transportation, Canadian railroads, and the American Automobile Manufacturers Association. He also co-led a partnership involved in the Detroit River Railroad Tunnel project.
