Toshiya Namikawa is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on data-driven cosmology, bridging theoretical and observational studies using cosmic microwave background (CMB) observations and large-scale structure surveys. He has contributed to CMB experiments like the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, BICEP, and LiteBIRD. His expertise includes B-mode analysis, gravitational lensing, cosmic birefringence, and reionization modeling. He holds a PhD from the University of Tokyo (2013) and has held postdoctoral positions at institutions including Stanford University and Kyoto University.
- Education:
- PhD in Physics, University of Tokyo, 2010–2013
- MSc in Physics, University of Tokyo, 2008–2010
- Research Interests: CMB polarization, gravitational waves, reionization, dark matter, and large-scale structure surveys.
His work emphasizes non-Gaussian statistics, lensing reconstruction, and improving CMB sensitivity to inflationary signals. He actively collaborates with international CMB collaborations and explores synergies between CMB data and gravitational-wave cosmology.
Publications highlight contributions to cosmic birefringence constraints, lensing analyses, and optimizing future missions like LiteBIRD. His research aims to address fundamental questions in cosmology, such as the physics of the early universe and the nature of dark energy.
