Professor Toshihiko Aono is a scholar of international history at Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, and a visiting fellow at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (FAMES). His expertise spans US diplomatic history, Cold War dynamics, and international relations. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2007) and has held academic positions at Hitotsubashi since 1998, advancing to full professor in 2019. His research emphasizes superpower relations, Cold War intersections across regions, and historical case studies like the Berlin and Cuban Missile Crises.
