Torunn Bjerve Eide is an Associate Professor at the Department of General Medicine, University of Oslo, with a focus on primary healthcare systems, patient experiences, and antibiotic use in general practice. She contributes to teaching medical students in psychiatry, hypothyroidism, and healthcare priorities.
- Education: Cand.Med (University of Trondheim, 2000), Social Anthropology (undergraduate, 1991), French intermediate (1992).
- Positions: General Practitioner at Majorstuhuset Medical Group (since 2013), Norwegian Council Representative in the European General Practice Research Network (EGPRN, since 2019).
Her research spans organizational factors in general practice, antibiotic prescribing, person-centered care, and quality improvement, often using cross-sectional and qualitative methods. Recent work addresses antibiotic decisions for sinusitis, pandemic-era practice changes, and international comparisons of care models.
Prior roles include membership in the General Practice Committee for Quality and Patient Safety (2010–2018). She leads national responsibilities for the Quality and Costs of Primary Care in Europe (QUALICOPC) study and represents Norway in the multilateral EconGP migration study.
