Torun Berg Eriksen is a Professor of Vocal and Songwriting at the Department of Rhythmic Music, University of Agder. She leads the performing master's program and the research group 'Songwriting and Production,' and directs Work Package 3 within CreTeME Center of Excellence.
Her artistic research focuses on:
- Interdisciplinary concert formats merging music and dialogue
- Jazz composition and vocal performance techniques
- Collaborative creation with ensembles
- Innovative songwriting methodologies
Her creative outputs include commissioned works for ensembles like Oslo Jazzensemble and Ensemble Denada. Recent pieces explore musical storytelling and experimental concert experiences.
Honors include the Radka Toneff Memorial Prize recognizing her contributions to Norwegian jazz. She maintains an active performance career alongside academic leadership roles.
