Roles & Affiliations: Torsten Hegmann is a Full Professor and serves as Director of the Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute (AMLCI) at Kent State University since 2019. He holds the title of Ohio Research Scholar Professor and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) since 2016. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba (Canada) and held leadership roles in research initiatives such as the Regenerative Medicine Initiative (ReMedIKS).

Recent projects include developing zero-power gas sensors using liquid crystal patterns and exploring chirality transfer mechanisms in nanocrystal-liquid crystal systems.
