Torgeir Opeland Røthe serves as Associate Professor in Quaternary Geology and Head of Department at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. Born in 1988 in Leikanger, he holds advanced degrees from the University of Bergen and maintains active research in Arctic geological processes.

Research Focus: Røthe investigates landscape evolution through fieldwork across Norway, Sweden, Bjørnøya, Svalbard, and Greenland. His expertise spans Quaternary Geology, Geomorphology, and Paleoclimate with specific emphasis on glacial dynamics, catastrophic ice losses, and landslide mechanics. Doctoral work examined Svalbard glacier chronologies, Folgefonna ice collapse events, and Nordland landslide systems.
Professional Activities: As Geomorphology subject manager since 2020, he maintains key geological terminology with recent updates including:
