Torbjörn Forslid is a Professor of Comparative Literature at Lund University's Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL), where he also serves as the First and Second-cycle Studies Manager. He has been a Professor at Lund University since 2011, following his time as a Senior Lecturer and later Associate Professor at Malmö University (2000-2011). Forslid is also affiliated with the Birgit Rausing Centre for Medical Humanities (BRCMH), demonstrating the interdisciplinary nature of his work.
His academic credentials include a Doctor of Literature from Lund University (2000) and a Master of Science in Economics with an international focus from Lund University (1986). He has served on the Swedish Research Council's expert group on gender (2007-2012) and is an active cultural commentator, writing for Sydsvenskan and participating in various media contexts including television and radio.
Forslid's research primarily focuses on Comparative Literature, Children's Literature, and the intersection of literature with health and well-being. He actively supervises doctoral students, currently serving as Supervisor for 'The literary geography of the ocean' and Assistant Supervisor for 'Feminin Monstrosity and Materiality in 21st century Nordic Eco Horror.'
Forslid recently co-organized the National Subject Conference in Literary Studies 2024 (October 2-3, 2024) and participated in media discussions about improving reading experiences (September 12, 2024).
