Prof. Torben Larsen is a Professor at the Department of the Built Environment, Aalborg University, affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering and Science. His primary research focuses on Urban Hydrology, Sediment Transport, and Stormwater Management, with extensive work in numerical modeling and coastal protection systems. He leads the Urban Hydrology Research Group and has contributed to over 220 publications since 1971.
Key projects include studies on solids removal in detention basins, empirical modeling of fjord water quality, and pollutant transport from motorways. His work integrates hydraulic engineering principles with environmental sustainability, addressing challenges in urban drainage systems and climate adaptation.
Prof. Larsen has been active in media engagements, including discussions on coastal canal management and Limfjord environmental concerns. He regularly participates in professional development courses and conferences, such as the ERFA-group meetings and workshops on wastewater technology.
