Dr. Tony Yates is a Professor of Science at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU), affiliated with the School of Science and Mathematics. He earned his A.A. in Biology from Hutchinson Community Junior College, B.S. in Biology from Oklahoma Christian College, M.Ed. in Biology Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Oklahoma.
His research focuses on biology education, particularly addressing misconceptions in biological evolution and the role of teachers in shaping student understanding. He has developed educational materials such as lab manuals and inquiry-based curricula for undergraduate biology courses.
Dr. Yates has published extensively in journals like Creative Education and Evolution: Education and Outreach, with a recurring emphasis on conceptual challenges in evolutionary biology education and curriculum design.
