Elbert Smith

Elbert Smith is an Associate Professor of Missions and Director of the Tom Elliff Center for Missions at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU). He returned to OBU in 2022 after 30 years of service with the International Mission Board (IMB), during which he worked as a church planter in Latin America, South Asia, and the UK, and directed IMB's missionary orientation for 15 years.

Dr. Smith specializes in cross-cultural ministry and missions, with experience in global church planting, theological education, and chronological Bible storytelling. His work bridges practical ministry training with missiological theory.

He currently leads the Tom Elliff Center for Missions at OBU, focusing on equipping students for international ministry contexts.
