Tony Wilson, K.C. is an Adjunct Professor at Thompson Rivers University’s Faculty of Law, where he teaches Ethical Lawyering and mentors law students. He is an elected Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia since 2012, serving as Chair of the Lawyer Education Advisory Committee and on the Ethics, Unauthorized Practice, and Executive Committees. He also adjudicates Discipline and Credentials Hearing Panels.
His practice focuses on franchising, licensing, intellectual property (IP), and hospitality law. He advises national/international franchisors, drafts franchise agreements, and handles IP matters like software licensing and trademark disputes. He is a recognized leader in franchise law, ranked by LEXPERT, Who’s Who Legal, and Best Lawyers in Canada.
Wilson authored Buying a Franchise in Canada and Manage Your Online Reputation, and writes opinion columns for Bartalk, Canadian Lawyer, and the Globe and Mail. He contributes to legal reform through the BC Law Institute’s Unfair Contracts Relief Project and Franchise Act consultations.
He has taught Contract Law and Advanced Legal Topics at Simon Fraser University’s Master of Applied Studies program and regularly speaks/writes on social media law and legal ethics.
