Tony Webster

Mr Tony Webster is a Visiting Professor at the Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions of The Australian National University. He also serves as Managing Director of both Policy Partners Pty Ltd (economic/policy consulting) and Ecology Consulting Pty Ltd (biodiversity assessments and environmental management).

Research Focus spans public policy design, economic analysis of environmental systems, and integration of economics and ecology for decision-making. His work addresses Nature-based Solutions for flood mitigation, evidence-based advising in public agencies, and regulatory economics frameworks.

Professional Background includes 24 years as a Commonwealth public servant (Commonwealth Treasury economist, policy adviser), followed by Chief Economist at the Murray-Darling Basin Authority where he contributed to the 2012 Basin Plan adoption. He also provides professional development training in policy writing and project management.

Current Projects include leading the economic team for the 2025 publication Nature-based Solutions Guidelines 2025 and delivering environmental management support for State-significant infrastructure developments.
