Tony Storey is a Professor and Programme Leader for the GDL programme at Northumbria Law School, Northumbria University. He has been with the institution since 1994, teaching Criminal Law, EU Law, Sports Law, English Legal System, and Contract Law. He has held visiting roles, including as Visiting Professor of EU Law at the University of Florida (2011). His academic background includes an LLB from Leicester University and an LLM by research from Newcastle University.
Storey’s research focuses on criminal law, EU law, and legal education, with publications analyzing case law interpretations, legal definitions, and statutory frameworks. His work spans areas like conspiracy liability, homicide defenses, and modern legal issues such as upskirting legislation. He has authored key textbooks including Unlocking EU Law (6th ed.) and English Legal System (4th ed.).
He has supervised doctoral research, including Alan Raftery’s study on euthanasia in Ireland. His qualifications include a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (PGCUTL) from 1995. His interdisciplinary work bridges criminal law theory with practical legal education, contributing to both academic scholarship and practitioner training.
