Tony Novosel is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on the History of Russia/Soviet Union, Modern European History, and Northern Ireland’s post-conflict transition. He has developed online syllabi for the University Honors College and College of General Studies, and pioneered web-based courses integrating synchronous/asynchronous learning.
Research highlights include a decade-long project interviewing Ulster Volunteer Force, Red Hand Commando, and Loyalist Politicians (1972-1987), culminating in his 2013 book Northern Ireland’s Lost Opportunity. He has engaged in over 50 community talks with ex-combatants and organizations like Amizade and Duke University. Current collaborations include the Fellowship of Messines’ Common History Projects in Belfast.
