Tong Yang

Professor Tong Yang serves as Chair Professor of Mathematical Science at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, holding the prestigious Kuok Group Professorship. He is a Foreign Member of Academia Europaea (2022), Member of The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences (2021), and Fellow of multiple academies including The World Academy of Sciences and American Mathematical Society.

His research focuses on Partial Differential Equations derived from Fluid Dynamics, Boundary Layer Theory, High Reynolds Number Limits, and Kinetic Theory. Notable achievements include establishing the well-posedness of Prandtl equations in Sobolev and Gevrey spaces, and developing innovative analytical approaches for shear flow stability in compressible settings.

Recent publications demonstrate sustained research excellence, with 17 outputs since 2022 primarily centered on Boltzmann equations, fluid dynamics, and mathematical physics. His work bridges theoretical mathematics with practical applications in fluid mechanics and statistical physics.
