Ton Falqués is an Associate Researcher and Postdoctoral Fellow at Lund University, affiliated with the Division of Clinical Genetics and the Lund University Cancer Centre (LUCC). His research focuses on the pathogenetic mechanisms of KMT2A-rearranged acute leukemia in infancy and synthetic immunology. He employs molecular biology approaches to study cancer evolution, drug resistance, and metabolic vulnerabilities in hematological malignancies.
Research Interests:
- Cancer genetics and mutational signatures
- Clonal evolution in leukemia
- Metabolic targeting in cancer cells
- Epigenetic regulation in KMT2A-rearranged leukemias
- Combination therapies for non-genetic cancer adaptation
Research Trends: His recent work analyzes how sequential drug treatments affect regulatory programs in leukemia (2024), investigates mutational landscapes in KMT2A-rearranged leukemias (2021), and explores metabolic dependencies like GLUT1 inhibition in AML (2021). Earlier studies examined CK2 kinase mechanisms (2008, 2017).
Projects: Coordinated the Pint of Science event in Lund (2018-2019), promoting public engagement with science.
