Tomás A. Magaña

Tomás A. Magaña is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. He serves as Founder and Director of FACES and Director of the LCOE Aspiring Physicians Program at San Francisco State University (SFSU), while also holding membership in the LCOE Administrative Core Faculty.

His clinical expertise centers on vulnerable pediatric populations impacted by systemic challenges:

• juvenile justice system involvement

• immigration status
• community violence exposure

Dr. Magaña pioneers health workforce pipeline programs designed to prepare underrepresented youth for medical careers, addressing critical healthcare disparities through structural interventions.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), he leverages FACES and the LCOE Aspiring Physicians Program to create comprehensive mentorship ecosystems.
