Tommy Terooatea

Tommy Terooatea serves as an Assistant Professor and Director of the Genomics and Bioinformatics Center within the Department of Biology at Brigham Young University's College of Life Sciences.

His research program is dedicated to applying advanced genomic technologies such as long-read DNA sequencing, single-cell multi-omics, and computational analysis to drive precision medicine for underrepresented populations, with a special focus on Pacific Islanders who have been historically marginalized in biomedical research.

In teaching, he emphasizes systems biology, utilizing single-cell multi-omics and computational methods to decode complex biological networks in disease. As the Director of the Genomics and Bioinformatics Center, he oversees a hub for cutting-edge genomic research and bioinformatics analysis.
