Tommy Bengtsson is a Professor at Lund University, affiliated with the

His research explores the demographic response to economic stress, health gradients, and long-term effects of early-life conditions. He pioneered the Scanian Economic-Demographic Database (SEDD) and co-founded the EurAsia Project, analyzing historical populations in Sweden, China, Japan, Italy, and Belgium.
Recent publications highlight trends like food price impacts on well-being and socioeconomic disparities in mortality. He supervises PhD students and collaborates on projects related to population ageing and public health.
