Tommaso Pavone is an Assistant Professor of European politics at the University of Toronto and a Visiting Researcher at the ARENA Centre for European Studies, University of Oslo. He serves as Director of the Centre for the Study of France and the Francophone World (CEFMF) and is affiliated with the Centre for European and Eurasian Studies. His research examines interactions between legal and political actors in shaping European integration, judicial politics, and law's role in political development.

Pavone’s work focuses on the European Union’s legal and political evolution, comparative judicial systems, and the rule of law. His book The Ghostwriters (Cambridge University Press, 2022) analyzes how lawyers and courts drive EU integration.
His awards include six major prizes from APSA, EUSA, and LSA for The Ghostwriters, which has been covered in The New York Times, Financial Times, and POLITICO. Pavone’s research has influenced debates in the European Parliament.
